Merit to reading YA or Children’s?
Is there any merit to reading YA or Children’s books if you are an adult? If so, what are they? List the pro’s and con’s….
Pro’s:
- There are some books that are geared towards YA or Kids that can keep your attention, like the Twilight series or the Harry Potter series. Both series had movies based on the books of the same name, they were so popular.
- If you read YA or children’s stuff, then you might have something you can read with your kids and see what they are into (may give you something to help connect with yours kids).
- Including YA or Kids literature in your daily reading might expand your own personal library even more than just sticking to adult literature.
Con’s:
- There are some books geared towards YA or Kids that won’t hold your attention if you’re an adult. Not everything will be as popular as Harry Potter or Twilight.
- Some adults might feel embarrassed to be caught reading YA or Kids because they might feel it is beneath them, especially if they don’t have any kids they’re reading it to or anything like that.
- YA or Kids won’t get into certain subjects because they are not deemed appropriate for that age. Plus, you won’t be able to read WITH your children and have that experience.
