Tom Brady needs several more Super Bowl rings to catch these NHL champions
Congratulations to Tom Brady: The Buccaneers quarterback won his seventh Super Bowl ring after Tampa Bay beat the Chiefs 31-9 in Super Bowl 55.
Of course, most are anointing Brady the greatest champion with two hands weighted down with rings. With his seventh ring, Brady has collected the most championships in the NFL — surpassing every league franchise’s total by himself. Brady, though, isn’t the only guy who has collected a handful of championship jewelry.
For example, former NBA player Robert Horry tweeted Brady to congratulate him for joining the “7 Chip Club” following Brady’s historic win. Horry is one of just nine NBA players to have at least seven titles to their name.

In the NHL, there are nine guys who have lifted Lord Stanley’s Cup at least seven times, with Henri Richard topping the list: “The Pocket Rocket” has 11 Stanley Cups, all won with Montreal between 1956 and 1973. That includes five straight between 1956 and 1960.
There are also a few guys who have seven or more ‘chips when combining their Cups won as a player and then a coach; Al Arbour’s seven (three as a player and four as a coach with the Islanders); Larry Robinson, who got No. 10 in 2019 with the Blues (six with the Canadiens as a player and three as a coach with the Devils); or Jacques Lemaire’s nine (eight as a player with the Canadiens and one as the Devils’ bench boss in 1995).
There’s also coaching legend Scotty Bowman, who won nine Cups between the Canadiens, Penguins and Red Wings.
