‘Superman’ Described As ‘Terrible’ After Recent Test Screening

Is Superman doomed to fail? A new rumor suggests that the DC Universe is getting off to a rocky start with its most recent test screening.

It’s no secret that the entire fate of the DC Universe on the big screen going forward rests on the shoulders of Superman performing well at the box office. This has led to the rumor mill churning with all sorts of reports regarding how the film is doing behind the scenes, and how confident Warner Bros. Discovery is in the film that will sink or swim what could be their next billion dollar franchise.

Sadly, not every rumor regarding Superman is exactly positive. The newest report from veteran entertainment reporter Jeff Sneidersuggests that the film may be in some trouble. During an appearance on The Hot Mic podcast, Sneider revealed that the DC Universe movie is actually doing terribly following its recent test screening. While it may come as a shock to those familiar with James Gunn’s filmography, it’s not exactly out of the question for any director to make a flop.

“I got a call from my best source after that newsletter. He said, ‘Great newsletter tonight. You got one thing wrong. And that’s about Superman which I continue to hear is ‘terrible.’”

Will Superman Bomb At The Box Office?

It’s important to note that this isn’t the only test screening rumor fans have gotten from Jeff Sneider. He previously reported “mixed” reactions for Superman back in December. His co-host John Rocha had an even more divergent source, stating that he heard the film was “decent” and was reminiscent of 2000s adventure films like The Mummy. All that to be said, it seems as though there isn’t one prevailing opinion about the DC Universe’s debut outing.

In truth, the quality of Superman doesn’t matter too much. Great films have bombed and horrible films have made money at the box office. The deciding factor is if fans are on board with James Gunn bringing the DC Universe to the silver screen, or if the age of superheroes is truly over. While this rumor about test screening could help prepare fans for the worst, it’d be best to take it with a grain of salt, especially months before the movie’s release.

Superman is currently scheduled to hit theaters on July 11, 2025. Stay tuned for the latest news regarding the future of the DC Universe and make sure to subscribe to our YouTube channel for more content!
