All Path of Exile 2 Patch 0.1.0d Nerfs and Buffs

Grinding Gear Games has shifted the balance of power for certain builds in Path of Exile 2, with the Sorceress being hit the hardest. While GGG has provided some global buffs for all classes, this patch has stirred some controversy as many felt like their builds became bricked. We’ll talk about Patch 0.1.0d and what makes it so divisive.

Sorceress’ Cast on Freeze Nerfed to the Ground

Before the patch, many Sorceress players relied on the skill interaction between Cast on Freeze and Comet. The passive states that whenever a target is frozen, they’ll gain energy, and when enough energy is accumulated, the skill gem socketed to cast on freeze will proc without costing mana or requiring cast time.

This build made it so that Comet was easily spammable, dealing massive amounts of AoE damage to mobs and bosses. Because of this, GGG decided that it’ll nerf Cast on Freeze.

What made this change so controversial was that Cast on Freeze was now changed to require way more Energy to proc a skill while severely reducing the amount of Energy gained on inflicting Freeze. This made Cast on Freeze practically useless, as it now requires a total of 11 Freeze effects to cast a single Comet.

Though this change was announced a couple of days before the patch went live, Sorceress mains are now stuck with a broken character. Since respeccing points on the Passive Skill Tree require 1000 gold per node, these players were now bankrupt due to how expensive a full respec costs. Many in the PoE 2 community felt burned after this change and have demanded free respecs from GGG as many can’t afford the costs.

Dodge Roll Buffs

GGG has addressed the issue of enemy body blocking and how annoying it can be to deal with, especially against the Act 2 scarabs. Dodge rolls will now change the character from 1 unit to 0, allowing them to pass through enemies. This will also push away nearby enemies, so getting body blocked by mobs will no longer mean certain death.

Trial of Chaos Changes

The mobs within the Trial of Chaos will no longer spike in density, instead groups will now be more uniform while also reducing the difficulty of certain modifiers. Lastly, AoE modifiers like Blood Orbs and Stormcaller Runes will no longer spawn whenever you stand on an elevator or Vaal Orb platform.
