Bane & Deathroke Team-Up Movie In The Works At James Gunn’s DC Universe

James Gunn’s DC Studios is reportedly developing a new movie featuring two of the comic book universe’s most iconic villains, Bane and Deathstroke. The project, still in its early stages, is part of Gunn and Peter Safran’s continued expansion of the DC Universe.

The Hollywood Reporter brings word that Bane and Deathstroke will be the central figures in this upcoming DC Universe movie after last being seen in The Dark Knight Rises and Justice League. The script is being written by Matthew Orton, who is also working on Captain America: Brave New World for Marvel Studios.

While DC Universe fans are excited to see these formidable Batman villains share the screen, no director has been attached to the project yet. With the success of villain-centered projects like Joker and HBO’s The Penguin, this new Bane and Deathstroke movie is expected to follow the trend, bringing these fan-favorite DC Comics antagonists into the spotlight.

Bane and Deathstroke’s DC Universe history

Introduced in the 1990s by Chuck Dixon and Graham Nolan, Bane is a physically powerful villain raised in a harsh prison environment. His strength comes from a potent serum he became addicted to after undergoing a brutal experiment. Known for his intelligence as well as his strength, Bane’s defining moment came when he broke Batman’s back in the “Knightfall” storyline, securing his place as one of Batman’s most feared enemies.

Deathstroke, created by Marv Wolfman and George Perez in 1980, is a highly skilled mercenary and assassin. Initially a villain for the Teen Titans, he quickly became a prominent antagonist throughout the DC Universe, taking on heroes like Batman and the Justice League. Deathstroke has appeared in various media, including live-action roles in Titans and Zack Snyder’s DC Extended Universe.
