Fans have been tearing apart every pixel of the set videos that are getting leaked from The Fantastic Four: First Steps. Marvel has hidden a wealth of easter eggs all throughout the production, and that’s without even seeing any of the cast members. However, as Vanessa Kirby took the stage as Sue Storm, eagle-eyed watchers couldn’t help but notice a baby in her arms.
Casual Marvel fans may be confused as to why these set videos show Sue Storm with a baby when she’s never had one in any prior movie. However, for comic book fans, it’s clear that the hierarchy of power in the MCU is about to change with The Fantastic Four: First Steps. The sight of a baby all but confirms that Franklin Richards is set to debut in this film.
Who Is Franklin Richards In The Fantastic Four?
In the comics, Franklin Richards is the son of Reed Richards and Sue Storm, as well as one of the most powerful reality warpers in the Marvel universe. Both him and his sister, Valeria, have been mainstays in The Fantastic Four comics since the 60s, despite having never made the jump over to a live-action film or even an animated series.
It’s unclear if Marvel only plans on integrating Franklin Richards into the film, given Sue Storm is only holding one child in the set photos, or if Valeria is simply off to the side. However, given how often the latter has been neglected in the comics, it wouldn’t be surprising if The Fantastic Four: First Steps did the same for the MCU.
